Recent Activities

First Activity
Co-chairs and vice co-chairs met to discuss the group’s purpose and plan activities for the upcoming year. As a result of this meeting, the group’s purpose was revised to better align with Core mission and to increase member engagement.

The purpose was updated on the website – https://www.ala.org/core/member-center/interest-groups/role-of-the-professional-librarian-in-technical-services and ALA Connect site.
Meets Core’s strategic goals for Membership and Engagement

Second Activity
The Co-Chairs and Co Vice-Chairs planned the group’s participation in the Core Virtual IG week and ALA Annual Conference. Potential presentation topics for IG Virtual week were discussed and selected.

Third Activity
The group has requested a Google Drive folder where the Interest Group Leaders will share and access documents and activities. This will also facilitate an easier transition to the group’s new leadership.

What will your group be working on for the next 6 months?
January-February 2022 – preparation for the Core Virtual IG Week
March 2022 – Virtual IG week, distribution of IG week materials to members through group’s space on ALA Connect and other communication channels
April-May 2022 – preparation for ALA Annual 2022
