| What will your group be working on for the next 6 months? | The discussion group is an informal forum where library leaders gather to engage in open conversations and share valuable insights and support related to library facilities. We exchange ideas, experiences, and insights in an organic, open-ended manner. We value the natural flow of conversation, encouraging everyone to contribute freely and explore diverse perspectives. With no set agenda, our discussions evolve naturally, fostering meaningful connections. |
| How did your work contribute to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, or belonging within Core or the library profession? What areas of improvement do you see for your IG or Core in these areas? | As the chair of our discussion group, my work has focused on fostering an inclusive and welcoming space where diverse voices (librarians, library staff, as well as planners and architects) are heard and valued. Our informal forum encourages open dialogue on issues related to equity and accessibility in library spaces, amenities and policies (about access and use of physical space). Areas for improvement: Ideally, we can increase participation by enhancing virtual collaboration. We recognize the need to simplify the navigation of cross-posting on Connect, as it can currently be somewhat challenging. |
| Is there anything Core could have provided during this time that would have helped your group with its activities? | We could benefit from increased collaboration with other interest groups to expand attendance and membership, and to increase engagement through programming. Simplifying Connect and making it easier to cross-post could also help. |
