First Activity
The Authority Control Interest Group spent much of the fall planning for its November 30th webinar. The title of the webinar was the ABC's of LCDGT (Library of Congress Demographic Group Terms). The speakers were Veronica Ranieri (Library of Congress), Heidy Berthoud (Library of Congress), Haim Gottschalk (Library of Congress) and Adam Schiff (University of Washington). Over 1,100 people registered for the event. Over 670 people attended the virtual presentations.

The Interest Group will be planning for the Core Interest Group Week and ALA Annual.

CORE Interest Group week

We had 3 presentations: Charity Stokes presented a brief history of Authority Control, Becca Wiederhold & Greg Reeve presented on the basics of Authority Control, and Guy Frost presented on special considerations for members of the occult when creating Name Authority records.

2 presentations: Veronica Ranieri with an update on the Library of Congress projects; Stacey Devine & Trina Soderquist speaking on how the CYAC Subject Vocabulary came into being

American Library Association Annual – ACIG Business Meeting (June 27,2022)

Confirmed upcoming programming for September 27th. Starting to think about ideas for Interest Group week for 2023.

Elections held. No interest for Chair so Melanie nominated Casey and was voted in. Bryan, Charity, and Melanie remain part of the committee and Elizabeth, Alyssa, and Rob were voted in. Mark remains as secretary.

September 27, 2022 – Virtual program

3 presentations: Robert Maxwell speaking on representative expressions in the authority record. Jessie Daigle speaking about RVM, where it came from and what's next. Emily O'Neal & Casey Cheney speaking about the Deschutes Public Library's DEI project.

Nearly 400 attendees.

Fourth Activity
ACIG Business Meeting – October 20, 2022
Those present: Casey, Mark, Elizabeth, Alyssa, Bryan, Charity, Melanie, Rob

Discussed Interest Groups' function at ALA Annual. Waiting to determine how to move forward with ACIG at Annual. May do round-table discussions in 2023.

Will be participating in Interest Group Week in March 2023. Focusing more on the "History of Authority Control and Ethics involved". 3 potential presenters put forward and all confirmed within a couple of days.

Discussed the ICOLC statement. We are not prepared to support it as it currently stands.

Next meeting confirmed for January.
