Recent Activities

First Activity
Had our ALA Annual Conference educational program proposal entitled "Cataloging Correctly
for Kids:" The Basics of Cataloging Materials for Young People" accepted. Certain Committee members emailed and met twice with the 3 speakers over the past 5 months to discuss the program outline, content, technical needs, etc.
Meets Core’s strategic goals for Career Building and Recognition

Second Activity
Committee member Vanessa Dwyer volunteered to serve as representative to CC:DA; some discussion on ALA Connect about surprising or inflammatory subject headings in records for juvenile materials; continuing to recruit a new Chair and new members on Connect, listservs, and the Facebook group Troublesome Catalogers and Magical Metadata Fairies.

What will your group be working on for the next 6 months?
Executing ALA Annual conference program and in-person meeting successfully; recruiting new Chair and new members; giving feedback to and/or collaborating with other groups such as Library of Congress CYAC Program, GNCRT, and the LC Genre/Form Term Advisory Group; updating and migrating ALCTS Cataloging of Children's Materials Committee "Resources for Catalogers of Children's Materials" webpage (tentative).

Is there anything Core could have provided during this time that would have helped your group with its work?
More support in securing new Chair and additional members.
