Recent Activities

First Activity
Determined officers (Chair/Vice-Chair); recruited new members and retained former members; determined Diversity & Inclusion Committee liaison.
Meets Core’s strategic goals for Membership and Value to Members

Second Activity
Collaborated on an ALA 2023 Annual Conference program proposal based on the 2021 ALA Editions book Cataloging Correctly for Kids: An Introduction to the Tools and Practices, Sixth Edition: "Cataloging Correctly for Kids:" The Basics of Cataloging Materials for Young People, which was approved for presentation by Core Conference Program Coordination Committee in November 2022. Three chapter authors/editors will present on their chapter topic(s) and answer questions, and our Past Chair will be Moderator.

Third Activity
Held 3 productive, hour-long meetings in which we discussed the past year's accomplishments; committee goals for this year; how to recruit new members; submitting a 2023 ALA Annual Conference program proposal; responding or giving feedback to–or collaborating with–other groups, such as Library of Congress Children's and Young Adults' Cataloging Program (CYAC) Tentative Subject Lists, the Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table (GNCRT) documents, and the Subject Analysis committee (SAC) proposals; and the International Coalition of Library Consortia (ICOLC) Statement on the Metadata Rights of Libraries.

What will your group be working on for the next 6 months?
ALA 2023 Annual Conference program; recruiting new members and retaining current members; giving feedback to and/or collaborating with other groups such as Library of Congress CYAC Program and GNCRT; updating and migrating ALCTS Cataloging of Children's Materials Committee "Resources for Catalogers of Children's Materials" webpage (tentative).

Help navigating ALA hierarchy and terms; linked glossary of terms and acronyms; email listserv?

Please provide suggestions for future education topics, initiatives, publications, resources, or other activities that could be developed based on your group’s work.
